______
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.
The European Union (EU) is a political and economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
The Ministry of the Interior (Italian: Ministero dell’Interno) is a government agency of Italy, headquartered in Rome.
Brief
______
To create an institutional video to easily communicate the history, culture and rules to the refugee in Italy for the “Marenostrum” projects.
The requested delivery time was 60 days. The only provided material was the script.
Challenge & Research
______
Before starting the project I organise the work in details, to meet the very close deadline. I then recorded myself reading the script to understand the duration of the video (1 hour) and the timing.
To meet the deadline and deliver a great product I divided the video into two parts, one completely animated and another one with video shooting, speaker and some animated elements.
To save even more time I designed a 3D animated flat character, based on pop-up child books and puppets to clearly and easily tell the story.
Solution
______
I then created the full storyboard, then so pulled together a team to create, under my guide, all the characters in Adobe Illustrator to deliver within deadlines.
In the meantime, I coordinated the audio recording and the video shootings.
I then created all the animations in Cinema4D and finally synchronized the video with the audio track and together with the video shootings and the sound effects I got the final product.
The video was then presented in Bruxelles in the European Commission in September 2010 where it had great success in particular because it stood out visually and in the way in which it communicated from any other institutional video ever made. The video was used for all length of the “MareNostrum” project to show the Italian Nation to the political refugee.
